Ranguma picks Knut official as running mate,cleared to defend seat.

KISUMU County Governor Jack Ranguma has picked a Kenya National Union of Teachers {KNUT} officialto be his running mate during the forth-coming polls slated August 8 this year.

Ranguma has finally settled on Mr. Ephraim Onyango Kanang’a, the Knut Executive Secretary for the greater Nyando Branch to be his running mate thereby dropping his four year-running mate Ruth Adhiambo Odinga whom he picked during the 2013 polls.

Speaking at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu on Thursday after IEBC cleared him to defend his seat as an independent candidate, Ranguma said he has settled on Kanang’a because of his youthful age and will help him run the county well during his second and final term in office.

Ranguma says he is now ready to go back to the residents of the county so as to seek their votes with an aim of being re-elected for the seat for his second and final term.

He says the choice of his running mate has also been informed by Mr. Kanang’a being able to command greater support from teachers within the county.

“I am very much confident that with Mr. Kanang’a and all of you here as the electorates of Kisumu County, I will be re-elected as the Governor in Kisumu County,” Ranguma says.

He has asked the electorates to re-elect him as the Governor for the county so as to be able to continue with the various development he initiated during his first term in office.

Ranguma is very much optimistic that he will emerge victorious during the forth-coming polls which is only two months away from now.

He has pointed out that IEBC will carry out credible, free, fair and transparent elections come August this year.

Ranguma has reiterated his commitment to campaign for NASA Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga so as to get as much presidential votes during the polls.

“I want to tell you here that I will surely campaign for NASA Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga in his fourth quest for the presidential seat this year and I will ensure that we deliver the votes for him during the forth-elections.I will do this as I seek my votes from you as an independent candidate,” Ranguma adds.

Ranguma’s running mate Ephraim Kanang’a has promised to fully support his boss until they get elected during the polls.

He promised to rally the teachers behind Ranguma fully to ensure he is re-elected.

Ranguma’s running mate comes from Nyakach Sub-County is an outstanding teacher who has risen from humble background to become the Knut Nyando Executive Secretary.

Residents are saying that the forth-coming gubernatorial race in Kisumu County will be a do or die for the candidates running for the seat.

Ranguma will now face Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o of ODM, Atieno Otieno of Jubilee and Peter Charles Omollo of Amani National Congress.

So far Ranguma has now been declared by IEBC to defend his seat as an independent candidate, Prof. Nyong’o will present his nomination papers tomorrow seeking to be cleared as well as Atieno Otieno of Jubilee and Peter Charles Omollo of ANC.
