Kakamega County is still ODM Party, says MCAs

The presence of Orange Democratic Movement Party in Kakamega County is still intact, Kakamega County Assembly Members have declared.

The 63 MCAs from ODM and other parties affiliated to it say the party is very much intact in the county ahead of the next general elections, adding that ODM party is there to stay.

Addressing the press in Kisumu after having a consultative forum today, the MCAs through the Deputy Speaker of the Kakamega County Assembly Soita Kasaya said Kakamega County is not a place where someone will come and play around with people anyhow and hoodwinks them ahead of the next polls.

Kasaya says the Party is very much ready to make other relationship with other people so as to see the direction that will be taken there then.

Kasaya says they have been discussing on the best way forward for the betterment of the people they serve within the county.

“We have been consulting on what we want to do as a party ahead of the 2022 General Elections and this is very normal for any political dispensation. We are also looking on how we can build this party strong,” he says.

He says there is need for a unity of purpose, adding there is need to take stock of the development agenda of the current serving Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who they have described as doing a good number of development projects since his first term in 2013.

He says they will work with other likeminded and ODM friendly parties ahead of the next general elections.

“We are looking at how we are going to strengthen our party and how to bring out a strong force from Kakamega County and as we negotiate we will be having a stronger team,” he adds.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya who is also the Chair of the Council of Governors says as Kakamega County they are working on ways on how to work in the next two years before the next General elections.

“We have been here for a consultative meeting on how will work for the next two years as a county for the year 2022,” Oparanya says.

Oparanya says this has been a political meeting, adding that when there will be a proper consultation they will involve others.
