22 Public schools in Kisumu benefit from Foundation’s donation of Covid-19 kits

A TOTAL of 22 public schools in Kisumu County have so far benefitted from donation of items to help them fight the Corona virus pandemic.

The schools that include both Primary and secondary have received items such as hand wash tanks, sanitizers and face masks from Mwalimu James Japheth Foundation which has done the distributions in the schools for one month.

Speaking during the donations of the items at Orongo, Okok Primary and Kibos Secondary schools, the Foundation’s Chairman James Aggrey Mwamu said they are targeting 100 schools within Kisumu County to benefit from the initiative.

He says there is still need for more well-wishers to come to the aid of schools in providing them with items that will help them prevent the school community from contracting Corona virus.

Mwamu has appealed to members of the public to very extra careful and keep on observing the Ministry of Health Guidelines on Covid-19, adding that the pandemic is real and no one should take chances at all.

“I want to urge members of the public to be very careful indeed since this disease is real. They should keep on observing the guidelines from the Ministry of health on Corona virus such as wearing face masks properly, Keeping social distance of one meter as well as proper hand washing with soap and clean water or sanitizing hands,” Mwamu says.

Chairperson of Okok Primary school Parents Association Garrison Ojwang has lauded the foundation’s move to help schools acquire such items.

He has appealed to the National Government to ensure that there are good structures in schools for learning to attractive and effective.

In Kisumu, a number of schools which have benefitted from the donations have thanked the foundation for such an initiative terming it a reprieve since some of them could not afford purchasing the items.
