County Govt of Ksm told to allocate more funds to Reproductive Health
The County Government of Kisumu has been urged to consider allocating more funds to reproductive health services especially Family planning.
Alex Akatch from Community Empowerment and Media Initiative Kisumu {CEMI}-K Advocacy Officer says it is high time the County Government of Kisumu up the Financing of Reproductive Health Services.
Addressing the media in Kisumu during an Advocacy forum, Akatch said Family Planning Services like IUCD and Nor Plant should never be charged by public Health Facilities in Kisumu County.
Akatch says there is no need for the Public Health Facilities in Kisumu to charge for the two mentioned Family Planning Services yet other Family Planning Services like provision of condoms are done freely.
He says the two family planning services are used as a long term measure in preventing pregnancies up to a period of five years and beyond.
Akatch says they are doing advocacy at the grass root level on the two family planning methods so that they can be provided freely.
He has challenged the County Assembly of Kisumu to come up with a policy to support this, adding that this is the surest way that such initiative can be fully planted.
Chairperson CEMI-K Serfine Atieno has appealed to the County Government of Kisumu to increase the allocation to the Reproductive Health Services especially effective Family Planning services.
Atieno says the issue of Linda Mama that was very instrumental to expectant women should be reintroduced within the public health facilities.
