Don’t mess with K’Oyoo’s victory, Muhoroni residents tells ODM

THE Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party has been told not to tamper with the victory of Muhoroni Member of Parliament James Onyango K’Oyoo who won the Party’s primary as the MP nominee.

The residents have said that there is no way their Member of Parliament who had earlier been declared as the winner and handed over an interim certificate of nomination on April 19 can be again denied to be its flag in the August 9 polls.

Addressing the press after staging a peaceful protest where they lit bone fires along Kisumu-Nairobi Road near Ngere Kagoro area within Muhoroni constituency today to protest the ODM tribunal decision to nullify the nomination of the current Member of Parliament James Onyango K’Oyoo, the residents vowed not to relent until the tribunal rescind such a decision.

Abdala Otieno said K’Oyoo was declared the winner as the ODM Nominee for Muhoroni constituency hence there is no way he can be denied such a resounding victory.

“We appeal to the National Elections Board of ODM party to kindly give the certificate of nomination to the winner who is our current Member of Parliament James Onyango K’Oyoo who won the nomination freely and fairly,” he says.

Former Councillor Joseph Ogut says the people of Muhoroni voted overwhelmingly for K’Oyoo and they need that to be respected.

He says they will surely vote for Raila Odinga as the next President of Kenya, adding that their will to elect the Member of Parliament should be too respected.

George Okoth Oleche says K’Oyoo won with a landslide and was ahead of his opponent and should be handed over the nomination certificate by the ODM Party.

The residents of Muhoroni constituency today protested peacefully in a number of areas within the constituency after the ODM party Tribunal made a decision of nullifying the nomination for the position of the Member of Parliament while ordering a repeat for the process in the entire constituency.

“We want peace to continue prevailing in Muhoroni constituency and we ask ODM Party leader to intervene and save the situation by ensuring that K’Oyoo is given the ticket to run as ODM Candidate,” they say.
