12Th Edition of Nyalenda B Ward back to school tournament held

 

The 12Th Edition of the Nyalenda B Ward Back to school Tournament is being held within the area and the finals will be played this Sunday.

 

Nyalenda B Ward Member of the County Assembly of Kisumu James Oyugi Were who has been sponsoring the Tournament says he begun it in 2012 with an aim sensitizing the youth on dangers of drug abuse by being brought together through the tournament.

 

Addresing the media during today’s matches played at Srilanka Grounds within the ward, Were said the Tournament has really help in changing the perception about Nyalenda area.

 

He says several players have been gotten to play in the Football clubs locally as well as nationally.

 

Were adds that through the tournament, talent nurturing among the young people has been realized.

 

The Member of the County Assembly of Kisumu says he has managed to organize this tournament with the help of some partners including the Chairman of the Kenya Private Schools Association.

 

Collins Omondi Ochieng, a Pro Sixteen team player says he has greatly benefited from the tournament as it has enabled him to play in the bigger teams during the Premier League in Kenya.

 

He says he was identified through the tournament and was chosen to play for different teams across the country.

 

Levy Juma, the Organizer of the Nyalenda B ward Back to school tournament says it has also helped in bringing the cohesion among the youth with the ward.

  Immediate Former Chairman Kisumu Journalists Network Rushdie Oudia{L} hands over the group's certificate to the new Chairman Dickens Wasonga-Photo By Dickson Odhiambo By Dickson Odhiambo   November 26, 2023   New Team takes over Ksm Journalists Network’s Leadership     A NEW Team has officially taken over the leadership of Kisumu Journalists Network.   The  team dubbed as Team Fresh led by Veteran Journalist Dickens Wasonga as the Network’s New Chairman has managed to bag all the positions from chairperson to Organizing Secretary.   In a hotly contested polls held at Kisumu’s Public Service Club this November 25, Dickens Wasonga resoundingly defeated the immediate former chairman Rushdie Oudia after garnering 47 votes. Oudia managed to get 20 votes. Doreen Magak and Daniel Dembede were earlier elected unopposed as the Vice Chairperson and Deputy Secretary of the Kisumu Journalists Network respectively.
