A group of young professionals from Kisumu County have endorsed Kisumu Governor JackRanguma’s re-election bid in this year’s General Elections. The team composed of about 120 professionals said Ranguma as a pioneer governor he has laid a strong foundation for growth and requires to continue with the work for uninterrupted development. Addressing the Press in Kisumu on Tuesday, the team said Ranguma has created an enabling environment for investments, something they said was helping create employment opportunities for the young professionals. “We are rooting for Ranguma’s re-election because of his clear track record which can be seen especially at the grass root level in most parts of the seven sub-counties,” they said in a statement read by the group’s chairman Charles Okumu. KISUMU County First lady Mrs.Olivia Ranguma has appealed to the residents of the county to ensure the rights of children are fully protected. Mrs Ranguma says violation of the right of Children is rampant and the residents should ensure that such rights are protected as enshrined in the law. Speaking during an international conference by International Federation of Education Communities {FICE} held at Accacia hotel in Kisumu today, Mrs. Ranguma said it is not right at all to violate the rights of children. She says some cases about the violation of the rights of the children sometimes find their way out of court settlement and this is not a good move. Kisumu. March 27, 2017. Ranguma urges residents to create peaceful environment for investments. Kisumu county Governor, Jack Ranguma has urged the residents of County to create a good environment for investors to invest in the town. Speaking at a forum hosted by the Peace and Development Network Program to discuss and see way forward of moving peacefully as a county, the Governor said that the people of Kisumu should reflect on its future for the town to develop.  He added that the town has had a history of investors moving away from the town due to bad politics and also the residents’ behavior of sending them away. EFFORTS by a lobby group within Kisumu County to manually remove the dreaded water hyacinth were thwarted today after about a hundred youth literally blocked the process at the infamous Lwang’ni beach in Kisumu. The youth protested the move by a Community Based Organization known as Agulu Environmental Organization to start removing the weed claiming that the CBO misused them some four years ago to remove the weed but did not pay them for the work done Speaking to the press at Lwang’ni beach, the angry youth accused the Chief Executive Officer of the CBO Bernard Odinga of misusing them round the year 2012 and 2013 to remove the weed manually but did not pay them even a single cent for the work done. They claimed that they register with the organization and parted with sh 500n as registration fees before they embarked on manual removal of the dreaded weed.

Scores of people escaped death by a whisker after a trailer and a mini-bus involved in an accident along Kisumu-Busia Road. The accident occurred along Otonglo market last evening left the passenger with serious injuries when the two vehicles involved in a head on collision. Those who arrived at the scene first said about five people were seriously injured including two children. The bus was heading towards Busia direction while the trailer was headed to Kisumu city when the tragedy happened. An eye witness told the reporters who visited the scene that she heard a loud bang and only saw the bus by the roadside with goods belonging to the passengers strewn all over. Various aspiring politicians in Kisumu West Sub-County have signed a peace charter aimed at maintaining peace before, during and after this year’s General Election. The peace Charter has been signed after the area Security and Intelligence Committee led by Kisumu West Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Walter Ngaira held a meeting with all the aspiring politicians for the seat of the MP and MCAs. The peace charter requires all the aspiring politicians as well as those currently serving to remain peaceful during this electioneering period as well as observing the rule of law during this period. They also agreed that all the security officers and civil Servants to remain politically impartia. The various stakeholders also agreed that a team comprising of all sectors be formed to mitigate and mediate in case of conflict.
