Court quashes varsity’s decision to shut its Kisumu City Campus abruptly. The Kisii University Governing Council has suffered a major blow after a High Court in Kisumu has thrown out its decision to close its Kisumu City Campus after giving its about 1,000 students only a one day notice to relocate to its other campuses across the country. High Court Judge Fred Ochieng in his ruling yesterday said the decision by the University’s Governing Council was unreasonable. “I find that it is not in the public interest to make a decision to have students whom the university had granted admission to its campus, for the purpose of acquiring an education, being told to ove out of that campus after a one day notice,” said Justice Ochieng in his ruling.  The court ruled that the Council shoul

By Dickson Odhiambo.   June 29, 2018.   Kisumu County Assembly passes report on CIDP II after timeline elapses. THE Kisumu County Assembly has passed a report and adopts the County Integrated Development Plan {CIDP} after the timeline required by the law to approve such a document elapsed several months ago. The report dubbed Kisumu County Integrated Development Plan II was tabled before the Assembly by the Budget and Appropriation Committee Chairman Stephen Owiti and was discussed before being adopted by the Assembly. The Kisumu County Integrated Development Plan II{CIDP} is the county’s Development Blueprint that outlines the programs and projects which the county intends to implement during the five year period starting 2018 to 2022 and it is a social contract between the County Government and the people of Kisumu County.

THE Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party’s delegates in Kisumu County has fully endorsed the implementation of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o’s manifesto. The delegates who converged at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu during this year’s ODM Kisumu County Delegates Conference have agreed to fully back the implementation of Nyong’o’s manifesto as the second Governor of Kisumu County. High Court upholds East Kano/Wawidhi MCA’s Election. THE HIGH Court in Kisumu has today thrown out a decision by the lower court that nullified the election of East Kano/Wawidhi ward Ken Agengo’. This means that the High Court has now uphold the Election of the   East Kano/Wawidhi ward Ken Agengo. High Court Judge Fred Ochieng said the appellant was validly elected as the MCA on August 8,2018. The Judge said the decision of the lower court that nullified the election of the Appellant is now null and void. Ken Agengo, the MCA who was elected on August 8 last year and contested the lower court’s decision that nullified his election has now hailed the High Court ruling that has upheld his election.
