Kisumu first lady urges for protection of children’s right.

KISUMU County First lady Mrs.Olivia Ranguma has appealed to the residents of the county to ensure the rights of children are fully protected.
Mrs Ranguma says violation of the right of Children is rampant and the residents should ensure that such rights are protected as enshrined in the law.

Speaking during an international conference by International Federation of Education Communities {FICE} held at Accacia hotel in Kisumu today, Mrs. Ranguma said it is not right at all to violate the rights of children.
She says some cases about the violation of the rights of the children sometimes find their way out of court settlement and this is not a good move.
The first lady also underscores the need to discourage child labour at all cost because this is a way of violating the rights of children.
She says she has on some occasions in the recent past personally met a number of children doing hawking of food and other items within the streets and this is a form of child labour which should be discouraged.
Mrs.Ranguma says children’s rights must also be respected and there should be no negations about this.
She adds that cases of defilement of young girls should not be entertained at all cost and the offenders should be punished in accordance to the law on Sexual Offences.
President of International Federation of Education Communities {FICE} Hermann Radler said this is the first ever FICE Council meeting held in Kenya and in Kisumu County.
He says his organization is a network of professionals who exchange knowledge on children who needs care.
FICE-Kenya President Simon Peter says they are also exchanging knowledge about how best they can deal with issues affecting children.
He says they work with a number of organizations to help in achieving their goals.
He says some of the programs they tackle including issues of Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
