Candidates well prepared as KCSE kicks off.

 A NUMBER of secondary schools within Kisumu County have prepared well their four form candidates in this year’s national examination as Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education {KCSE} exams kicks off this morning in all secondary schools in the country.

A spot check in a number of schools during the weekend reveals a busy schedule by most students who were busy making final touches by doing thorough revision exercises ahead of the national exams which kicks off today and will come to an end this November 28.

At Nyakoko Secondary school in Muhoroni Sub-County, the form four candidates who had done their rehearsal last Friday say they are well prepared to tackle the national exams which will mark the end of their four years of secondary school education.

The candidates are optimistic that they will perform well academically and will proceed with learning at the institutions of higher learning.

“Our teachers have taught us as well as doing thorough revision with us ahead of this year’s KCSE exams hence we expect to perform well and post good results come next year when exams results will be announced,” they say.

They say they have now put everything before the Lord as they start their national exams today.

The school’s Principal George Ombok who is now the center Manager as per the Kenya National Examinations Council’s regulation says that the teachers have done their level best to prepare the candidates for the national examination.

He says the school has managed to enroll 106 candidates for this year’s form four national exams, adding that they managed to enroll 111 candidates last year for the same national exams.

He says out of 106 candidates, 40 are girls while 66 are boys who are sitting the exams beginning this morning.

“Our candidates of this year’s KCSE are a bit focused and we hope they are going to do well in the exams,” Ombok says.

A spot check in other schools also reveals the same level of preparedness ahead of this year’s KCSE exams with Kisumu Girls, Maseno School, Onjiko High, Masogo, Kanyamedha among other schools being optimistic that they will post good results.

During last Friday, Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili visited Nyabondo Secondary school within Nyakach Sub-County and encouraged all the form four candidates from various schools within the country be positive as they start their national examination.

The Kisumu County Deputy Governor has wished well all the form four candidates success in their national exams.

“I wish to congratulate all of you for your dedication and hard work throughout your period of basic school education and training that culminates in your sitting this national examination,” Dr. Owili says.

He urges all the candidates across the various parts of Kisumu County to be very much patient and maintain high standards of discipline before, during and after the national examination.

“I believe that the education and training experience you have had has ably prepared you to sit this exams and I therefore wish you all good luck and God’s guidance throughout the examination period,” Dr. Owili adds.

This year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education{KCSE}  will mark 28 years since the form four national examination started in 1989 in all secondary schools across the country under the 8-4-4 system of education.
