End of an Era as Arch Bishop Owiti of VOSH passes on at 91.

THE Voice of Salvation and Healing Church International is in a state of mourning after its founder Arch Bishop Silas Owiti has died.

A number of the church members trooped into the Home of Owiti so as to condole with the family following his untimely death.

Arch Bishop Owiti has died while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu City last night aged over 90 years.

Owiti who founded the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church International in 1956 was at the helm of its leadership for close to 50 years till last year in June when the current Arch Bishop Dr. Winnie Julia Awino Owiti took over from him upon being incapacitated.

Addressing the press at their home in within Tura Village of Nyando Sub-County today, the Church’s new  Arch Bishop Dr. Winnie Owiti said that it is with a lot of sadness that the family announces the untimely death of the immediate former Arch Bishop Silas Owiti who passed on last night at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

Arch Bishop Owiti says her husband has served the church for over 60 years since its establishment in 1956.

She says the late Arch Bishop started preaching in his early 20s in 1954 and his last summon was in the year 2013.

Owiti says that the late Arch Bishop was attacked by stroke hence since 2014 he has never given any summon as an arch Bishop.

Bishop Barack Oriawo who is the Church Secretary General says the church has lost a spiritual icon, adding that he thank God for whatever has happened.

He says plans are underway to give the Church’s founder a send off befitting his status, adding that funeral arrangement will be put in place including the burial date  which the church will announce in due course.

Arch-Bishop Dr. Winnie Julia Awino Owiti is now the second Arch Bishop of the church after replacing Arch-Bishop Silas Owiti.

She was elected by the Church’s Electoral College of Bishops last year where she was installed and consecrated as the Arch Bishop of the Church.

More than 5,000 church followers attended the ceremony that marked the beginning of a new era in the church’s history spanning five decades.

The Retired Arch Bishop Silas Owiti is best remembered for his prowess in preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ where he converted many to become Christians as the Head of the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church International.

The Late Arch Bishop is survived by his Wife Arch Bishop Dr. Winnie Owiti and four children.
