Schools in Kisumu City celebrate good KCPE results.

A number of both public and private primary schools within Kisumu City were in a celebratory mood after the Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi announced this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams results.

The candidates who have posted good results in this year’s class eight national examination were spotted celebrating their good performance in their schools.

A spot check by this writer in a number of schools within the Kisumu city reveals that there have been jubilations in such schools which have posted good performance.

At MM Shah Primary school which is a public primary school in Kisumu City, parents and teachers joined the candidates in celebrating the good performance after the top candidate scored 432 marks out of the possible 500.

The candidate named Nicy Agwenge scored 432 marks to emerge top in her class which registered 189 candidates for this year’s national exams.

She says she did not expect to perform so well to emerge the top pupil in her class in this year’s KCPE Exams.

The 14-year old girl says she wants to proceed to Alliance girls’ high school for her O level education after which she will proceed to University to study neurosurgeon.

By the time of going to press the school has managed to get results of about 15 students who have scored more than 400 marks.

The School’s Head Teacher Marcellus Okweya says the result is better than last year’s where the top candidate got 412 marks.

Okweya says hard work has really paid off and thanks teachers, parents and pupils for the full support which has enabled the school to post good results in this year’s national examinations.

At Golden Elite School which is a private school within Kisumu County seven candidates managed to get over 400 marks with all the 59 registered candidates getting over 300 marks.

Six out of the seven pupils who scored over 400 marks were girls.

The top candidate Cynthia Isendi  Matara managed to score 423 marks to emerge the top pupil in the school.

Matara says she aspires to be a neurosurgeon after completing her secondary school at Alliance girls which has ever been her dream school.

The school’s Director Charles Ochome says he attributes the good performance to high level of discipline, trusting in God and hard work from both teachers and the candidates.

He says the school prepared well the candidates ahead of the exams, adding that good planning has really help the school.

 He thanks the Almighty God for the good results the school has been posting.
