Kianja FC wins Mwalimu James Mwamu Football Tournament Cup

 

Kianja Football Club from Kajulu Ward in Kisumu East constituency has won the Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Football Tournament Cup after trouncing 31 teams up to the finals.

 

In a match that was played yesterday at Kunya Primary school in Kisumu East Constituency, Kianja trounced Urusi FC from Manyatta by scoring one goal against Urusi that scored nil.

 

For the female teams, Manyatta United trounced Kolwa Falcons by scoring two goals against one in a tight match that was played between noon to 1:30pm.

 

The event that had attracted 32 teams begun on September 25 this year and yesterday with the finals.

 

Addressing the gathering after the final Match and presentation of the Cup, Chairman of Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu said the Foundation has been sponsoring Tournaments within Ksm East Constituency and beyond.

 

Mwamu says the teams have been awarded with Trophies, Certificates, Cash money, uniforms and Balls.

 

He says the Foundation will continue to sponsor such Tournament so as to help in nurturing the talents among the youth.

 

“We are nurturing talents among the youth both boys and girls in terms of football tournament because the football is now a well-paying job as they can go up to the leagues like the Laliga to play their and earn some good money,” Mwamu says

 

Kianja Football Club Patron Don Aura thanked the Foundation for sponsoring such a tournament.

 

Aura says the team has really made the entire Kisumu East Constituency proud, adding that if it continue play good football like that then it will go places.

 

Lawyer Ken Amondi, an aspiring MP in Kisumu Central  who also joined his professional colleague James Mwamu said he will replicate the same in Kisumu Central Constituency to help nurture youth talents in football.

 

“As an aspiring MP in Kisumu Central Constituency, I have been really challenged by my Senior Lawyer James Mwamu and I will surely replicate this in Kisumu Central so as to help in nurturing the youth talent,” Amondi says.
