Supkem Tells President Ruto not to bow to pressure while appointing new Cabinet

The Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims has urged President Dr. William Ruto not to bow to intense pressure when he will be appointing the new cabinet.

The Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims{Supkem} Western Kenya region leadership says after the President's recent dissolution of the cabinet, a section of political class from various communities have begun intense lobbying for reinstatement of some of the sacked Cabinet Secretaries.

Addressing the press in Kisumu after holding a meeting, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims {Supkem} Western Kenya regional Organizing Secretary Sheikh Juma Musa Asmani said while constituting the new cabinet, President Ruto should not bow to undue pressure to reward political loyalty, tribalism, cronyism and nepotism that has hitherto led to ethni balkanization of this beloved country.

He says Supkem acknowledge President’s renewed commitment to have a competent individuals at the higher echelons of the civil service, adding that they urge all those who will be appointed to the Cabinet Secretaries Positions to fulfil their pledges in a transparent and accountable manner for the sake of all Kenyans.

“However, we are deeply concerned about the heightened boardroom campaigns and lobbying by the country’s political class who are mobilizing their communities to campaign for their ‘people’ while others are insisting on the reinstatement of the Cabinet Secretaries from ‘their communities,” says part of the press statement to the newsrooms.

At the same time, the Supkem leadership from the larger Western Kenya Region says that it is the duty of the National Police Service to provide protection to the Gen Zs who have organized peaceful demonstrations in most parts of the country today on Tuesday July 16, 2024.

“The Police should provide protection during the peaceful protests by the Gen Zs to ensure that such demonstrations are peaceful while also preventing any infiltration by individuals with malicious intentions,” adds part of the press statement.

They have urged the protestors to be very peaceful and maintain decorum, adding that they should ensure that other people’s rights are not violated.
