County Govt of Ksm holds meeting on transfer of Assets

 

The County Government of Kisumu has held a meeting on transfer of the Assets to the County.

 

The Kisumu County Secretary Hesbon Hongo held a consultative meeting with the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) regarding the transfer of assets to County Governments.

 

The meeting aimed to update the County Secretary on the progress made in the asset transfer process and to seek the support in implementing the agreed resolutions to ensure a smooth and legally compliant transition.

 

The key issues deliberated includes the transfer of Legal Ownership that addresses the formal transfer of legal ownership documents for assets already transferred to the County Government of Kisumu.

 

Another issue is the Preliminary Verification Report where the County Government is requested to prepare a preliminary report verifying transferred and gazetted assets against the County’s asset register ahead of the scheduled engagements.

 

Planned Engagement and Handover is also another issued that was discussed during the meeting the County Government has been notified of a planned visit to facilitate harmonization of asset registers and the formal handover process.

 

During the meeting, the County Secretary’s office was requested to invite the County Commissioner, Clerk of the County Assembly of Kisumu, and other relevant officers previously involved in the exercise to participate in the upcoming engagements.

 

The exercise will further identify and resolve any inherent variations and emerging issues between the Gazette Notices and County records before acquisition of legal ownership documents, as directed by the Summit.

 

“This process is critical in strengthening due diligence, enhancing accountability, and advancing the objectives of devolution,” the County Secretary says.

 

The Kisumu County Secretary has emphasized that maintaining an updated and accurate asset register which is key for proper record-keeping and the legality of ownership, noting that it safeguards the County Government’s interests and strengthens accountability.
