Ksm Teachers petition Govt over their Colleague’s killing, want assurance over their security

The teaching fraternity in Kisumu County has petitioned the Government over the recent brutal killing of their Colleague one week ago within Ahero Interchange in Nyando Constituency.

Led by both the Kenya National Union of Teachers{KNUT} and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers{KUPPET}, the teachers want the Government to speed up investigations into the recent brutal murder of Justus Abong’o Agai by suspected criminals who waylaid him on his way home within Kochogo Location in Nyando Constituency.

Addressing the press in Kochogo North at the Home of the slain Teacher, Kisumu County Kuppet Executive Secretary George Osura and Nyando Branch Knut Executive Secretary Ephraim Onyango Kanang’a, the teachers petitioned the Government to assure them of their safety and security within and outside their work stations.

Osura who read the Joined Communiqué on behalf on the teachers said the Government should conduct thorough investigations into the gruesome murder of teacher Justus who was equally a businessman within Ahero Interchange.

He adds that all those who are involved in the killing of the teachers must be brought to book as soon as possible and the family gets justice.

“No teacher should live in fear while performing his duties and everyone should be assured of security in the work station and outside,” he says.

He says a number of teachers have been victims of attacks and some have even succumbed, adding that every teacher’s life matters at all cost.

They want the police to speedily conduct impartial investigations following the incident, adding that there seems to be some absolute laxity on the issue.

Teacher Justus Abong’o Agai, a teacher at Kagimba Comprehensive School in Nyando constituency was brutally murdered on his was going home by unknown assailants who accosted and hitting him with a blunt object on the head where he succumbed to the injured inflicted during the incident.
