Clergy urged to pray for Kenya Kwanza’s
Govt to deliver
Members of
the Clergy across the country have been urged to pray for the Kenya Kwanza
Government under President William Ruto so as to deliver its election pledges to all Kenyans.
Cabinet
Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo said the Kenya
Kwanza Government under the stewardship of President William Ruto have begun implementing
its manifesto to Kenyans in line with
what it pledged during the Campaigns.
Addressing
Members of different denominations at his home in Asembo within Siaya County to
thank them for their prayers before, during and after the last general
election, Owalo said the Kenya Kwanza Government has a lot of faith in the
religion and can help in maintaining peace and tranquility across the country.
Owalo says
the Government is ready to include the aspect of religion in all that it does
across the country since it is a major stakeholders.
The Cabinet
Secretary has urged the various members of the faith based organizations to
pray for peace and unity to continue to prevail across the country to realize
meaningful development.
Owalo says
the President means well for every part of the country with Nyanza region
included, adding that there are a number
of development projects that the current Government have initiated and ongoing
across the country.
He says the
President has categorically stated that time for politics is long gone and it
is now the time to focus for developing various parts of the country and
implement what the Kenya Kwanza pledged to Kenyans when campaigning ahead of
last year’s polls.
“President
William Ruto is fully committed ensure that the Government deliver its election
pledges to Kenyans without looking at the voting part during the last
elections,” Owalo says.
He says
Nyanza just like any other part of the country have development projects lined
up for it, adding that some have kicked.
He adds that
the Kabonyo/Kanyagwal Fisheries Institute which is Multi-Billion Project has
been earmarked for implementation in Kisumu County at an estimated cost of shs
3 billion.
Owalo says
already water and electricity projects have been rolled in different parts of
the country with Nyanza region included, adding that roads that stalled will be
completed during the Kenya Kwanza tenure.
Owalo adds
that there are plans to come up with policy framework on how to write of debts
Sugar farmers owe as well as paying the debts that the Government owes them.
He further say
the Government is fully committed in the revival of the cotton farming across
the country with Nyanza region included in the pipeline.
“I articulated the Kenya Kwanza
Governments development agenda for the region and reiterated the Government’s
commitment to work with the churches to develop the region. I also asked the
church to use their influence to help create a favorable and conducive
environment in the region for private sector investment and partnership with
current Government,” Owalo adds.
The about 300 religious
leaders have urged the region to support the government of the day under the leadership
of President Dr. William Ruto to foster accelerated development, peace and
national harmony among the people of Kenya.
Some of the
development issues that the leaders have raised included solving the menace of
flooding in the region, enhancing food production, creating youth employment,
development of the fish industry, attracting investment into the region, and
growing the church in the Nyanza region, as well as more structured engagement
between the church and the state.
Among the church
leaders present were Bishop Johannes Angela of the Anglican Church; Father John
Pesa of the Coptic Church; Archbishop David Matengo, AIC Church; Archbishop
Eng. Caleb Olali, Nomiya Faiths; Archbishop Musa olanya, Nomiya Church;
Archbishop Musa Osewe of Legio Maria; Archbishop Michael Obego of Nomiya
Church; Fauzia Shaban of the Muslim Faith; and Elizabeth Okal, SDA Church,
among others.
Other leaders
present included Siaya County Commissioner, Jim Njoka and George Okungu, former
MD, Kenya Pipeline Company.
The Siaya County
Commissioner urged the faith groups to engage the Presidential Task Force on
Religious Affairs and help improve the religious operating environment.
