KPC Build shs 5M Computer lab at a school in Nyando

The Kenya Pipeline Corporation has built a magnificent Computer laboratory worth shs 5 million at Ong’eche Primary School in Nyando Constituency.

Cabinet Secretary in Charge of Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi said this is one of the projects that the Kenya Pipeline Corporation Foundation has launched in Kisumu and Siaya worth over shs 20 Million.

CS Wandayi says other projects include a block with twin laboratories and a classroom at Dr. Iddah Odinga Girls Secondary School and a new school bus for Rangala Boys Secondary School.

Addressing the residents of Kobura ward during the launch of the project, Wandayi said the students will now be able to sit for computer studies exams next year, adding that this will be building skills that are vital in today’s digital economy.

“I am pleased to note that the computer laboratory at Ong’eche Secondary School is already making an impact. It has led to increased student enrolment and is opening doors to modern learning opportunities,” Wandayi says.

Wandayi say he recognises the KPC Foundation’s impact in Nyanza that goes well beyond these latest projects, adding that the Foundation has invested Ksh 26,000,000 in education infrastructure in the region.

“The Foundation has supported the development of a 100-capacity dormitory at Siburi Mixed Secondary School Homabay, two classrooms at Lambwe Special School, dormitory and laboratory at Simbi Secondary school, an administration and ablution block at Kowuor primary school, and a multi-purpose hall at St.Mary’s school in several schools in Homa Bay and across Siaya. These investments represent hope, opportunity and the belief that every child deserves a conducive environment to dream and achieve,” Wandayi adds.

The Cabinet Secretary at the same time says the Government pledges to foster synergies that will ensure continuous and sustainable development across sectors, adding that it reiterate its commitment to a holistic approach aimed at improving quality of life and securing long-term prosperity for the citizens.

“The focus on education, health, and water and sanitation resonates deeply with the Government’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and to the realization of Vision 2030. The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum recognizes that access to reliable infrastructure, digital tools and safe learning environments goes hand in hand with our national objectives for quality education and inclusive growth. We stand ready to work in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure that no child is left behind,” CS Wandayi adds.
