KASIPUL Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were has said
he is very much available and ready to record statement with the police over
the death of Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party official in the constituency
during the Weekend following a fracas in a hotel.
The legislator says he has not gone into hiding as being speculated by
a section of his opponents following the death of the ODM Party official known
as Gerry Ouma Okiso in his constituency after a fracas occurred in a hotel
within Oyugis Town owned by a senior police officer. Okiso is the ODM Kasipul constituency

Addressing the press at Kisumu International Airport on his
way to Nairobi today, the Kasipul Member of Parliament has exonerated himself
against the unfortunate incident that led to the death of the ODM Party
official within his constituency.
He adds that he was accompanied by some of his aides,
adding that the manager of the hotel is the one who informed him about the
incident at the hotel in which a person was stabbed.
“I was accompanied by some of my aides and later I was
joined by some youth who were downstairs at the back as I was sitting upstairs,”
he says.
He says after the commotion, he was whisked away by his
security details who ensured his safety by evacuating him from the hotel as
quick as possible.
He has asked the police to carry out thorough investigations into the
matter, adding that he too is ready to record his statement with the police in
regard to the incident.
“After I was whisked away from the hotel, I was informed
that the person that was stabbed was taken Kisii Hospital and I was later
informed two of my aides were hospitalized and they were in a coma,” he adds.
He says he visited the hospital where two of his aides were
hospitalized but did not get them at the facility, adding that after one hour
he received a call that the police had brought a dead body and took the two
aides of him who were hospitalized and booked them at a police station as
suspects.
He has urged the owner of the Hotel who is said to be a
senior police officer at the regional level not to influence the investigation
into the matter.
“Let the police do their work without interference and even
extend investigations further,” Were adds.
