Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has urged the religious leaders across the various churches and mosques to pray for peace and tranquility during electioneering period. Ranguma says the element of peace and tranquility is very much important hence the various religious leaders should consider putting the Kisumu County and the Country at large in prayers mood so as to ensure there is peace during this electioneering period. A SECTION of Clergy in Kisumu County have called for an immediate disbandment of the elections Board that will carry out the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party’s nominations within the County next Monday. The about 20 clergy under the banner of the Kisumu County religious Leaders’ Forum say that they are gravely concerned that the forthcoming ODM party primaries have raised concerns amongst some candidates and members of the public who have raised several complaints especially with the composition of the board to conduct the nomination exercise in Kisumu County. PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta is set to visit the Lake Side City of Kisumu on Tuesday for a State Galla for the Kenya National Drama Festival. State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu says the Head of state visiting Kisumu with an aim of presiding over the state galla for the Kenya National Drama and Music Festival. The Kenya National Drama and Music Festival has been held in Kisumu city for the last two weeks where primary, secondary and tiertiary institutions have been performing. Speaking at Kisumu state Lodge on Monday, Esipisu said the visit by the Head of State is not political but an official one. “The President is visiting Kisumu tomorrow on Tuesday and this visit is an official one and not a political one,” he says. POLICE within Nyanza region will remain neutral during the entire electioneering period, the Regional Police Coordinator Willy Lugusa has said. Lugusa says all the police officers serving within the region are expected to observe impartiality before,during and after the polls, adding that police will show their neutrality during the electioneering period. Speaking during a forum organized under the theme of Kenya Election Violence Prevention and Response{KEVP} on Thursday in Kisumu for the youth, the regional Police boss said one of the duties of the police officers is to maintain law and order and can only do this if they are neutral during this electioneering period. VARIOUS aspirants on Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} party ticket in Nyanza region have dismissed the recently held demonstration in Kakamega County wanting Amani party Leader Musalia Mudavadi to be picked as the National Super Alliance {NASA} flag bearer. Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has appealed for peaceful campaigns before, during and after ODM Party Nominations slated for Kisumu County this April 24. Ranguma says peaceful campaigns are very vital for all the residents of the county as well as to the investors who want to undertake some investments within the county. He says he is optimistic that the ODM party National Elections Board will iron out some of the issues that have been raised by various candidates in regard to the forthcoming nomination process. VARIOUS Stakeholders have started to participate and giving their views on the proposed Children Bill. The Deputy Director Heading the National Council for Children services JosphineOguye says they are currently   gathering the public opinion on the proposed bill that seeks to amend the Children’s Act of 2001. Speaking at St. Ann’s Guest House in Kisumu on Tuesday, Oguye says Kisumu is one of the ten regions they are visiting for the purpose of seeking public views of the proposed bill.
