President Kenyatta set to visit Kisumu for a state Gala
on Drama Festival.
PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta is set to
visit the Lake Side City of Kisumu on Tuesday for a State Galla for the Kenya
National Drama Festival.
State House Spokesperson
Manoah Esipisu says the Head of state visiting Kisumu with an aim of presiding
over the state galla for the Kenya National Drama and Music Festival.
The Kenya National Drama and
Music Festival has been held in Kisumu city for the last two weeks where
primary, secondary and tiertiary institutions have been performing.
Speaking at Kisumu state
Lodge on Monday, Esipisu said the visit by the Head of State is not political
but an official one.
“The President is visiting
Kisumu tomorrow on Tuesday and this visit is an official one and not a
political one,” he says.
He says the President will
also be holding some meetings with various stakeholders when he visits the
region.
Manoah at the same time
hinted at eminent increment in the minimum wage for the public sector workers
come May 1 this year.
Meanwhile, the Clergy in
Kisumu County have appealed to the area residents to turn in large numbers to
welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta on his visit to the Lakeside city.
The more than 20 Clergy led
by the Chairman of Kisumu Clergy Fellowship Arch Bishop Winnie Owiti of the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church
and Arch Bishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede of Power of Jesus Around the World say they will be welcoming the
President right from the airport and will hold a meeting with him when he
arrives in Kisumu.
They say the President is
visiting the region as the Head of State and Government hence urged the public
to turn in large numbers to welcome him.
"As the Head of State, the President is expected to visit any part of the country and residents of the areas the President is visiting are expected to welcome him," they say.
