Governor
Nyong'o sacks three CECs in a mini-reshuffle.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter
Anyang Nyongo has today sacked three County Executive Committee members as he reorganize
his government.
Those said to have been shown the
door include Richard Ogendo who has been in charge of Cooperative Development
and Marketing, Alice Moraa in charge of Industrialization and their Roads,
Transport and Public works counterpart Thomas Odinjo.
Governor Nyong'o has also
transferred the embattled Finance CEC Nerry Achar to Energy and
Industrialization docket.
In a press statement through his
Director of Communications Aloice Ager, Nyong'o has appointed Dr. John Obiero
Ogone who is the current CEC in charge of Education to be the acting Finance
CEC replacing Mr. Achar.
Dickson Obungu who is the
current CEC in charge of Physical Planning has also been appointed to act as
CEC in charge of Roads, Transport and Public Works replacing Thomas Ondijo.
Gilchrist Okuom who is the current
CEC in charge of Agriculture will now also act as the CEC in charge Cooperative
Development.
Nerry Achar has been appointment a
substantive CEC in charge Energy and Industrialization in the mini-reshuffle
that has seen three CEC dropped.
The Governor through his Director of
Communication says the changes takes place immediately.
He says the County Executive
Committee members appointed in acting roles shall continue to hold those
temporary roles alongside their substantive portfolios.
The Kisumu Governor has also
forwarded the name of George Okong'o as the nominee for the position of CEC in
charge of Finance and economic planning.
“In addition, the Governor has
nominated and forwarded the name of Mr. George Omondi Okong’o to the County Assembly
of Kisumu for vetting for the position of the County Executive Committee Member
in charge of finance and economic planning,” the Press Statement reads in part.
The event comes barely a few days
following speculations that changes were eminent within the Executive wing of
the County Government of Kisumu where reshuffling of the County Executive
Committee members was highly expected.
The reshuffling comes at a time when
the county Government of Kisumu is faced with the issue of addressing the issue
of health workers strike which has so far seen health provision services within
the various health facilities been paralyzed after the health workers have
downed their tools for nonpayment of salary arrears.
Ends.
