Ladies from Gem Rae in Nyakach donate food items to flood victims in the area

About 400 residents of Gem Rae in Nyakach Constituency have benefitted from food donations given by Ladies from the area.

There was joy at Rae Girls High School today when the residents queued for the food donations distributed through Apuoyo Biggy Foundation.

Addressing the press today at the venue, Good Hearted Friends Organization Founder Silas Odhiambo popularly known as Apuoyo Biggy said the donation include food items and non-food items.

Odhiambo says Gem Rae area has been ravaged by the flood which has been caused by heavy rains witnessed so far in the area.

He says the donations has been made by ladies who hails from Gem Rae led by Gill Odingo who have sympathized with the plight of the area residents.

He says the donation cost about shs 300, 000, adding there is still need to appeal for more donations to the flood victims in Ksm County.

Odhiambo has asked the County Government of Ksm to consider having early flood mitigation measures which will help in addressing the problem of the perennial floods in parts of the County.

The donation comes barely a week after two Kenyan lobby Groups in the united States donated cash estimated to be half a million which was used to purchase food items to residents of Kano area in Parts of Nyando Muhoroni and Ksm East.

The two lobby groups known as Kano Empowerment Association and Kavirondo Men Group in the United States of America initiative benefitted about 10,000 residents in Kisumu County.

On behalf of the residents, Siprosa Ochong, Kennedy Okeyo and Patricia Achieng has thanked the ladies from Gem-Rae for the initiative.

They have appealed to the County Government of Kisumu to help in di-silting rivers so as to help in the flooding water to move fast.
