Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o says the three are confirmed cases since last Saturday May 23, 2020.

In a press statement to the newsrooms today, Governor Nyong’o says two of the cases are currently at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Covid-19 isolation center and the other one case is in an isolation center in Nairobi.

Nyong’o says the first two cases who are both male aged 19 and 82 years respectively are long distant truck drivers whom the public health surveillance team intercepted having traveled from South Sudan and Uganda respectively through Busia Border Control last Saturday.

“This case, having travelled back to Nairobi, has been referred to Nairobi Metropolitan surveillance teams and is currently in an isolation facility.

Nyong’o adds that already contact tracing for all the three confirmed cases is currently ongoing.
The Governor further says that however, no resident of Kisumu County has to date tested positive for Covid-19.

He urges the general public to adhere to all the Government’s directives and Public Health Covid-19 containment measures.
