Governor Mutua lashes out at critics of BBI as he drums up for its support in Kisumu

MACHAKOS Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has lashed out at critics of the Building Bridges Initiative.

Mutua says those who are criticizing the document should tell Kenyans what is really wrong with it.

Addressing the press in Kisumu on his way to Kisumu North ward where he drummed up support for Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Candidate for the By-Election Ken Wagoyi that will be held this December 15, Mutua said critics of the document have coined various forms of propaganda to discredit the document.

The Machakos Governor defended the document saying it has given higher responsibilities to positions like that of the Prime Minister, adding that such a position will be among the number of the already existing cabinet with a greater responsibility.

“With BBI we will be doing away with Imperial Presidency and bring democratic President who will be accountable to the People of Kenya,” Mutua says.

Mutua claims that there are a section of politicians who are out to mislead Kenyans by applying delaying tactics where they want more time for consultation yet they have just been around when views of Kenyans were sought over the document.

He has described such politicians as those who are very coward, adding that the delaying tactics won’t work at all cost.

“If you think that the BBI is not a people driven process then wait for the National Referendum and see whether the citizens will reject it,” Mutua adds.

Mutua says Kenyans will make a decision during the Referendum process that is due next year.

He says the biggest beneficiary of BBI is the Devolved system of governance where allocation will be increased from 15 to 35 percent that will go directly to counties from the National Treasury.

“Those who want to move to court while wanting to challenge the BBI document with claims that it is not a people drive process, let them wait and see because people want more funds at the county level for development,” he further says.

He has urged Kenyans to continue appending their signatures for the document.

Mutua who crisscrossed the Kisumu North ward while drumming up support for Maendeleo Chap Chap Candidate Ken Wagoyi urged the electorates to elect him as their next Member of the County Assembly of Kisumu during the by-election that will be held this December 15.

“Our party has a robust development strategies therefore I urge the residents of Kisumu North ward to elect my party Maendeleo Chap Chap Candidate Ken Wagoyi as the next MCA of this area so that they benefit from kind of development we have lined up,” Dr. Mutua adds.
