Addressing the press in Kisumu today where the Women Enterprise Fund disbursed a total of shs 2,087,000 to women groups in Kisumu Central Sub-county to enable the members to continue with their businesses which were hard hit as a result of the Corona virus disease, the Foundation’s President Prof Tom Ojienda said such funds would enable the groups to raise up again in doing their businesses.

Ojienda says the foundation is partnering with the Women Enterprise Fund to sensitize the registered women groups in the 35 wards within Kisumu County to educate them on how to apply for the funds and its proper utilization to help uplift their standards of living.

“We all know that Women Enterprise Funds disburse funds to only registered women groups across the country. As a foundation, we are partnering with the kitty so as to carry out sensitization program to such women group so as to equip them with knowledge on how to make applications and use the funds prudently,” Prof Ojienda says.

He says since this is a revolving funds, it is good for members of the women groups to know that refunding the money is very important so that other groups can also benefit from the Kitty.

Ojienda who  has declared his interest to vie for Kisumu County Senate seat on Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party in the next year’s polls says the Foundation will crisscross all the 35 wards in Kisumu County while sensitizing the women groups on the essence of the fund.
