Consortium to enhance electoral integrity launched in Kisumu

A Consortium that is aimed at supporting civic participation and enhancing electoral integrity across the country has been launched in Kisumu.

The consortium Known as The Angaza Movement {TAM} is also aimed at transforming political leadership in the country and it is spearheaded civil human rights organizations in the country.

It is a national and grass roots grouping of active citizens and human rights activists who have come together to support the three above mention course.

Speaking to the Press in Kisumu today during the official launch of the Movement, Civil Societies Organizations Network Coordinator Betty Okero said Kenyans as a whole should demand that the next year’s polls outcome should come from them.

She says Kenyans should ensure that they vote and protect the votes at all cost.

Okero says Kenyans should take keen interests on how the politics of this country is being managed and they should have a say about political moves.

“Kenyans should use their votes as Kenyans to demand for accountability and transparency, peace and security,” Okero says.

Okero adds that Kenyans should be very much vigilant and ensure that electoral process is not captured by the elites in the country.

Grace Orao, the Executive Director Women Volunteers for Peace says Kenyans should vote based on the quality of the leader who will surely take care of the voters’ interest.

She says it is time to evaluate the last 5 years and think about how as Kenyans should be very vigilant with their votes by settling for the best irrespective of gender.

Orao has urged the youth to shun violence before, during and after the elections, adding that violence affects all.

“Violence is affecting you and I.  We are attacking each other yet we are all struggling to keep our heads above water.  Stop attacking each other for some politicians,” she says.

She further urges Kenyans to vote only for visionary leaders and demand the best from such leaders.

“As we are going to settle for the Worst evil, the better evil, or will we elevate ourselves high and demand only the best.  #MulikaKura na dada na ndugu zangu, 2022 is our chance to stamp our power, our authority and out vision,” she further adds.
