Lake Region Ring Road will spur development in Nyanza Region, Govt says

 

The Nyanza Region and the Larger Western part of Kenya will have massive development with the earmarked construction of the Lake Region Ring Road, the Kenya Kwanza Government has hinted.

 

The Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo says the Government of Kenya Kwanza under President Dr. William Ruto intends to embark on the construction of the Lake Region Ring Road from Busia County all through to the Border of Kenya and Tanzania in Migori County.

 

Addressing the residents of Migori County on the need to embrace businesses opportunities and the Government funding being offered to empower the citizens, Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo said the Government will first complete the construction of all the major roads acros the country that were initiated by the previous Jubilee Government regime under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

 

Owalo says the construction of the Lake Region Ring Road will be done along the Lake Victoria from Busia County to Migori County at the Border of Kenya and Tanzania, adding that it will open up the Road Transport networks within the said region and beyond.

 

“This Lake Region Ring Road will open up the entire ecosystem of the Nyanza Region for purposes of enterpreneuship and regional trade,” Owalo says.

 

He says the Government has already developed a blue print for economic development for various parts of the Country with Nyanza region included, adding that based on this  the Government has also developed County based economic chapters for every county.

 

Owalo says the issue of the Lake Region Ring Road, the construction of the multi-purpose Koru-Soin Damin Kisumu and the Magwagwa Dam in Kisii county, enhancing Rice Production as well as up scaling sugar cane production are some of the projects that have been earmarked for Nyanza region.

 

The Cabinet Secretary says plans are also in place to up scale fish production across the country where fish landing sites have been identified as one of the major projects within the various beaches along Lake Victoria region as well as other beaches across the country, adding that already a fish landing site has been established in Busia County.

 

Owalo has urged the residents of Nyanza region to fully support the current Government, adding that bit means well for all its citizens across the country.
