Women in Nyanza urged to form groups for serious businesses and grow together

 

A NUMBER of Women from Nyanza region have been urged to engage and form groups that will enable them carry out serious businesses for their prosperity.

 

Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and  Digital Economy Eliud Owalo says this is the surest way for women in Nyanza region to prosper just like other Kenyans from other parts of the country.

 

Addressing women leaders from Five Sub-Counties within Siaya County at his Home in Rarieda Constituency, Owalo there is need for the women from Nyanza region to start forming organized groups and Saccos aimed at ensuring that they grow economically.

 

Owalo says Small and Medium Entrerprises {SMEs} is the way to grow and urged people to fully embrace the initiative for economic growth as a group.

 

“You cant grow as an individual but can do so when you are in organized groups and this is why we want you to form organized groups and leverage on the economic scale hence get government funding like the Hustler Funds,” Owalo says.

 

The Cabinet Secretary says there are a lot of opportunities that women and youth can explore.

 

Owalo has urged the Women and youth to take advantage  of the Saccos which he says has a lot of financial opportunities than banks.

 

He urges them to embrace the issue of blue economy and the opportunities that come with it across the country.

 

The Cabinet Secretary for ICT and Blue Economy was accompanied by Lake Victoria Water Works Development Agency Chairperson Odoyo Owidi, Lake Basin Development Authority Chairperson Diang’a Waore, Chairperson Postal Corporation of Kenya Rose Nyanguma, Former Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro, Siaya County UDA Coordinator Charles Owino Wahongo, Chairperson Saccos Regulatory Authority Jack Ranguma among other dignitaries.

 

Other Senior Government officers from various ministries also accompanied the CS and provided technical knowledge on the various business opportunities that exists for both Women and Youth.
