Leaders told to empower electorates to be self-reliant

 The elected Leaders have been urged to work together for the betterment of the electorates they represent in various positions after being elected during the last Polls.

 

They have been urged to shun the culture of handouts and instead embark on empowering the electorates to be self employed.

 

Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga says by empowering the electorates, the elected Leaders will have helped in creation of self employment rather encouraging the Culture of handouts among the electorates.

 

Odinga says by empowering the electorates, they will become self-reliant and embark on doing meaningful income generating activities that will help them earn means of livelihoods.

 

Odinga was speaking in Muhoroni Sub county after her office distributed cheques to 41 groups totalling to shs 2.5M for economic Empowerment.

 

This is the last Sub county in Kisumu county that has benefitted from this initiative since it was begun nearly a month ago by the office of the Ksm County Woman Member of Parliament Ruth Odinga.

 

The Kisumu County Woman Representative has urged the Groups to use the funds they have received prudently since they have been trained on financial literacy before the disbursement.

 

She has promised the groups that will utilize the funds wisely to get more funds for empowerment.

 

"We will do an assessment and those groups that will utilize the funds prudently will get more funds for the empowerment," Odinga says
