Ahero Boxers claim authorities neglect them

Members of the Ahero Boxing Club have claimed that the authorities have neglected them in totality.

Chairman of the Ahero Boxing Club Eugene Ochieng says the boxing game within Kisumu County have been neglected for a long time hence something should be done.

The Boxers claim that even the county government of Kisumu have not recognized them in anyway yet boxing is also a form of sport.

Addressing the press within Ahero to register their displeasure, the Ahero Boxing Club says they have been facing a number of challenges.

They say lack of equipment for better training, adding they don’t have training equipment like punching bags, rollers, punching gloves and skipping ropes among other.

They claim friends are the one who have been coming in to help them in training as boxers.

The boxers further claim that at one point, they approached County Government of Kisumu to help with equipment but in vain.

Ochieng further adds that Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Dr. Joshua Oron at one point came to their rescue for training.

He adds that one David Onyalo has been very instrumental and have helped to steer the boxing training within Nyando constituency and Kisumu County.

Ochieng appeals to well-wishers and the County Government of Kisumu to help in steering the Boxing in Kisumu County.

He further say boxing should also be recognized just like any other form of sports within the country.

Ochieng adds that they plan to start taking their training in schools so as to help in training students on boxing.
