Ksm ODM Team supports Nyong’o’s Elevation
The Kisumu Orange
Democratic Movement {ODM} Party Coordination Team has thrown their weight
behind Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o who has been elevated to the position of
the acting Party leader.
In a signed press
statement to the newsrooms, Kisumu
County ODM coordination officials says they take this earliest opportunity to
congratulate Kisumu Governor, Prof Peter
Anyang’ Nyong’o on his nomination as the acting ODM party leader.
They say the ODM
fraternity in Kisumu have always had trust and confidence in Nyong’o because of
his astute and visionary leadership.
The Kisumu County ODM
Party led by the County Chairperson Paul Akeyo say his experience and loyalty
to the ODM Party dates back to 2005 when he played a big role in the formation
of the party.
“As a pioneer ODM
Secretary General, Nyong’o has worked hard to help grow the part to its current
status as the largest opposition party in East and Central Africa. As party
officials in Kisumu, we are all proud of him,” read part of the statement.
They add that Prof
Nyong’o has over the years played an important role behind the scenes in
shaping the parties policies and strategies.
“As Kisumu Governor
for two terms, his leadership strategies has seen Kisumu emerge as a top
destination for local and international investors. He has drastically
transformed Kisumu city,” they add.
They further say
with him at the helm of ODM leadership, they are confident the party will
continue to grow to new heights to execute the aspirations of Kenyans.
“We assure both Rt.
Hon Raila Amollo Odinga, Prof Nyong’o that we will continue to implement their
political policies and strategies in this region,” they further say.
The ODM Party coordination
Committee in Kisumu County at the same time has warned those who are out to
organize for a farewell party celebrations on the issue of Raila’s political exist
not to think of such a move, adding they should indeed focus on praying for
Odinga to capture the African Union Commission Chairperson’s seat.
Kisumu Women
Representative Ruth Odinga, Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Mathews Owili and Kisumu
Central Member of Parliament Dr Joshua Oron have criticized such an intention
to conduct a farewell party terming it premature move.
“What we should do
as a country is to genuinely pray for Raila in his bid to become the African
Union Commission Chairperson other than organizing for premature farewell
party,” they say.
They maintained that
if at all there will be a farewell party for Odinga then it will be after he is
elected as AUC Chairperson in February next year.
The ODM has also thanked
Raila Amolo Odinga and the Party’s Central management Committee for recognizing
Prof Nyong’os service and commitment to the party over the past few decades.
