Kenyans in Canada
support Nyong’o as acting ODM Party leader
The yesterday’s Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party’s
Central Management committee decision to have Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang
Nyong’o as acting Party Leader has received a major boost after the Kenyan-Canadian Diaspora have
supported the move fully.
Led by Reverend Dr Okoth Otura, a close and a longtime
confidant of Raila Odinga, the Kenyan-Canadian Diaspora says Nyong’o has a
better chance to lead the ODM Party as an acting party leader.
Through a press statement, the Kenyan-Canadian Diaspora has
fully thrown their weight behind the current Kisumu Governor following the ODM
Central Management Committee’s decision to have him as the acting party leader.
The Kenyans living in Canada has assured Nyong’o of their
full support in his new role as the new ODM Party leader in Kenya.
They have described Nyong’o as a seasoned reformist and
competent leader with a wealth of experience in political leadership, adding
that he is a credible and a trustworthy person.
They strongly believe that Nyong’o will really steer the ODM
Party to the right direction just as Odinga has done it successfully in all
those years the party has been in existence.
The Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has settled on the
Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o to succeed him at helm of the Orange
Democratic Movement {ODM} Party as he fully concentrates on his campaigns for
the African Union Commission’s Chairmanship.
The decision to settle on Prof Nyong’o was reached during a
meeting of the Party’s Central Management Committee chaired by Odinga and
attended by key party officials at a hotel in Nairobi.
In a statement signed by the ODM Party Secretary General
Edwin Sifuna indicates that Nyong’o will henceforth chair the Central Management
Committee meetings, a task that has been a preserve for the party Leader.
The Orange Democratic Party Secretary General has explained
that such a decision has been taken aiming at giving Odinga enough time to
concentrate on his campaigns for the African Union Commission’s Chairmanship
whose election is schedule next year in February.
