The County Government of Kisumu is in a state of mourning the untimely
demise of one of its Executive Committee Member.
Kisumu Governor, Prof. Peter Anyang' Nyong'o, has expressed profound
sadness over the passing of the County Executive Committee Member Salmon
Orimba.
Nyong’o says he has lost the gallant County Executive Committee Member
for Public Service, County Administration and Participatory Development.
In a press statement to newsrooms, Governor Nyong'o described Orimba as
a trusted colleague, dependable partner, and dear friend who served the county
with dedication and humility.
"He approached every assignment with seriousness of purpose and an
unwavering commitment to the people we serve," Governor Nyong’o says.
The Governor recalls Orimba's calm and thoughtful counsel, his
commitment to building strong institutions, and his generosity in giving credit
to others.
"He was steady when
challenges arose and always put the people of Kisumu County first," the Governor
adds.
On behalf of the County Government and the people of Kisumu, Nyong'o has
extended his condolences to Orimba's family, describing his passing as a great
loss to Kisumu County and the community of Kajulu.
"May the Almighty grant him
eternal rest and give all of us the strength to bear this immense loss,"
he says.
Orimba had served in various roles, including Water, Environment,
Natural Resources and Climate Change, Infrastructure, Energy and Public Works,
and Public Service and County Administration.
His contributions to the county's development were immense, and his
absence will be deeply felt.
Orimba's legacy will live on through the systems he strengthened, the
projects he guided, and the lives he touched during his tenure as County Executive
Committee Member after joining Governor Nyong’o’s Cabinet in 2017.
