Drama at Kisumu County Assembly as Speaker Oloo stopped from accessing premises.

DRAMA has today ensured at the County Assembly of Kisumu after the embattled Speaker Onyango Oloo been blocked from accessing the premise.

Drama started when the besieged Speaker Oloo tried to gain entry to the premise but was barred from accessing after a section of rowdy youth and Members of the County Assembly opposing him told him to stay away.

Police had to lob several teargas canisters to disperse the unruly youth who sang pro-Speaker Oloo’s chants while demanding that he be allowed to gain access to the facility as the speaker.

Anti-riot police had to engage the youth in running battle for nearly one hour as they tried to disperse them.

The county Assembly of Kisumu was a no go zone for members of the public as anti-riot police cordoned it off and mounted two road blocks on the road leading to and from the premises.

Members of the public who passed by were frisked as police keep vigil on any eventuality around the County Assembly.

A section of MCAs who are opposed to the embattled Speaker vowed not to allow him back to the Assembly, adding that Oloo’s fate had been sealed after Kisumu North Ward MCA Elisha Jack Oraro was elected as an Acting Speaker to replace Oloo who is facing a court case regarding the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu.

Market/Mlimani ward MCA Seth Kanga says the county Assembly has sealed the fate of Speaker Onyango Oloo by electing an acting Speaker Elisha Jack Oraro last week.

However, Kajulu ward MCA Roy Samo who addressed the press later after the fiasco at the Assembly vowed that the duly elected Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu is none other than George Onyango Oloo.

“The legitimate Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu is none other than George Onyango Oloo and we will use even the last drop of the blood we to ensure that democracy is not trample upon in our presence,” Samo says.

Samo says there is nobody misusing Speaker Oloo as alleged by some quarters, adding that this is just unfounded allegation.

“Before the Speaker was arrested, the County Assembly had passed the budget hence there is no budget the Speaker is sitting on as alleged by some individuals,” he adds.

The Embattled Kisumu county Assembly Onyango Oloo maintains that he is the legitimate Speaker of the Assembly, adding that none can block him from discharging his duty as the speaker.

He vows to make attempts to go to his office within the County Assembly of Kisumu precinct. 

“I will do it by sweat, under the water, above the seas and will ensure that no one tramples on my right as a Kenyan,” Oloo says.

He has also vowed to move to court and challenge any decision barring him from discharging his duty as the duly elected Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu.
