Legion Maria Feast at Got Kwer in Migori is on as planned, says Pope Adika.

THE Head of Legion Maria of African Church Mission has reiterated that this year’s church function that has been scheduled to take place at Got Kwer in Migori County is still there as earlier planned.

Pope Raphael Adika says this year’s feast to mark 28 years since the Church founder and spiritual leaders Baba Meshiah Simeo Melkio passed on in September 1991 will go on as planned without any hitch.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today at Saint Peter’s Legion Maria of African Church Mission within Manyatta area, Pope Adika said the procession to mark this year’s event begun in Barding within Alego Usonga Constituency on September 2 then to Manyatta where they will today leave for Jerusalem Amoyo in Nyatike constituency before finalizing at Got Kwer in Suna within Migori County.

Adika says all preparations have been put in place so as to ensure that the event is a successful one.
The Head of the Legion Maria of African Church mission has assured all the church followers that there will be peace before, during and after the event which takes approximately two weeks from September 2 this year.

Pope Adika has maintained that he has a good working cordial relationship between him and his archrival Romanus Ong’ombe whom they have now buried hatched and agreed to work together after the court had proposed for the two to work together for the unity of the church.

“We agreed the two of us that we will work together towards uniting this church because we have buried the hatchet and agreed to forge ahead in uniting this church. That agreement still stands,” Adika says.

Adika says what is important is for peace to keep on prevailing in the church, adding that for the last ten years there has been leadership wrangle which had split the church hence there is need to fully unite it for the sack of maintaining peace.

“We are in the process of uniting the church under one leadership and we are extending an olive branch to all since the most important thing is peace prevailing in the church,” Pope Adika said.

Cardinal Paul Amani Juma and Arch Bishop Elias Komenya have both assured the church followers of their security during this year’s event at Got Kwer in Migori County.

The two says anybody who will try to threaten the peace of the church faithful during the event will be dealt with in accordance to the laws of the country.

Legion Maria of African Church Mission Nyando Diocese Bishop Mathews Aquino says the Lord needs peace hence there is need to maintain peace.

He urges all the legion Maria followers across the country and beyond to turn up in large numbers and attend to the event, adding that they anticipate that it will be very peaceful.
