Kisumu Governor urges residents to observe regulations that will help flatten the Covid-19 curve

KISUMU Governor Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has urged the County Residents to strictly observe the regulations that will help in flattening the Corona Virus Curve.

He says this should be done so that normal activities of life can be resumed.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today when the Council of Governor gave update on measures they are putting in place to help in curbing the spread of the pandemic, Nyong’o said  in Kisumu as the rest of the nation are concerned with the exponential growth of community transmissions.

He says this means that day today actions are a threat to the laid out containment regulations.

The Kisumu Governor urges the residents to Remember Cabinet Secretary in charge of Health Mutahi Kagwe’s infamous quote that if the disease is treated normally then it will treat people abnormally.

Nyong’o says Kisumu as at today has registered cumulatively 110 Covid-19 positive cases, adding that 40 of those cases are active and in isolation; 10 in various isolation facilities and 30 under the Home based Isolation Program.6.

He adds that since the county registered a total of 58 discharges; 10 being from the Home based care program, adding that of major concern is that 70 of those cases or 63.6% are registered community transmissions with 10 of those local transmissions are healthcare workers.

“On very sad note and of serious concern is that we have also lost 4 patients to this disease, as we continue implementing the MOH and GOK approved containment measures,” Nyong’o further says.
