Kuppet members in Kisumu purchase bus worth shs 6 million
Members of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education teachers in Kisumu County have purchased a bus worth about shs 6 million.
Kisumu County Kuppet Executive Secretary Zablon Awange says it has been financed by the NCBA Bank of which part has been contributed by Kisumu Kuppet Branch.
Addressing the press in Kisumu today during the official launch of the bus, Awange says Kuppet Kisumu Branch has contributed over shs 1.5 million towards the project.
Awange says all the three wings of the branch namely Branch executive committee, Branch General Councils and the Branch benevolent Fund which have fully funded bus.
Kuppet Secretary General Akello Misori who graced the occasion has lauded the Kisumu Kuppet Branch’s move to purchase a bus.
He adds that other branches like Siaya have promised to buy a 74-sitter bus, adding that other branches like Bomet have already purchased a land and putting up a commercial building.
He says Kakamega Branch is currently putting up a hostel near Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Misori has encouraged all the Kuppet branches across the country to have at least a project within their area.
He says such project is a big score for the union and will help to address some small issues related to teachers’ welfare.
“We are encouraging all the branches to have a project but not necessarily a bus because such projects are of great importance,” Misori adds.
