I have not met Ruto, clergy clarifies
A clergy from Nyanza region has said he has not met President-elect
William Ruto today at his Karen residence as alleged by social media account
belonging to the current Deputy President.
The Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Chairman Apostle Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede says he has not gone for a meeting with the President
Elect at his Nairobi Home as claimed in the social media.
Ogonyo says he is perturbed that his name is among those clergy
from across the country who have been mentioned in the official face book
account of the president elect as members of the clergy who met him today.
Ogonyo who is also the Head of Power of Jesus around the World
says he has been in Kisumu with his family welcoming her daughters and his
grandchildren who have visited him.
He says the statement on social media about him visiting Karen
to meet Ruto is very misleading indeed
He has condemned it with the strongest terms possible.
He says various people have called him via his cell phone to
ask about the issue.
The clergy says he has been in prayers since the voting day and
has not gotten time to visit any place including Nairobi.
Ngede claims that he did not even receive invitation to attend
the meeting that was held at Karen which is the official residence of the
Deputy President of Kenya.
“None has invited to that meeting and I have never received any
call from fellow clergy in regard to the meeting,”
A face book posted from Deputy President William Ruto’s account earlier
today indicated that among the Bishops he has met today at his Karen office
include Arch Bishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo
Ngede who has vehemently denied being part of the clergy.
Ogonyo was not among the clergy in the pictures posted in that social
media site.
“We owe our victory in the just concluded election to God. We
will keep on working with religious leaders to better the lives of Kenya.
Hosted faith leaders at Karen residence, Nairobi County, led by Arch Bishop
Philip Anyolo, Arch Bishop Antony Muheria, Supkem National Chairman Hassan Ole
Naado , Bishop Robert Lang’at, Bishop Ogonyo Ngede, Bishop Joseph Ntombura,
Bishop Mark Kariuki, Bishop David Oginde, Bishop Kepha Omae, Retired Bishop
Silas Yego, among others,” the face book post reads
