Ksm Woman Rep supports technical training of 80 students at sh 1.5M  

THE office of the Kisumu County Woman Representative has allocated shs 1.5 million to sponsor about 80 students to study technical courses at the National Industrial Training Authority in Kisumu.

Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga says this is part of her Strategic Plan of 2023 to 2027 under Human and Institutional Capacity Development.

Addressing the beneficiaries today during the orientation of the 80 students who are supposed to join the National Industrial Training Authority situated in Central Ward in Kisumu County, Odinga said technical courses should never be ignored since they play an integral part within the society.

Odinga says through her NyarKamami Scholarship Program, the 80 youth will be sponsored to take up Technical Courses at the Nita in Kisumu.

She says the youth once graduated from the institution after taking such technical courses are now able to advance their education to the level they would like to be.

“I will walk hand in hand with the beneficiaries until they reach their preferred level of education because nothing is impossible when one is well focused and determine coupled with guidance from the Almighty God,” Odinga says.

The beneficiaries who have been taken through the orientation for the program are eager to take up their preferred courses at Nita where courses that include Information and Communication Technology {ICT}, Food and Beverage, Plumbing, Masonry, Welding among other are undertaken.

More females are taking the technical courses than males in Kisumu County.

The office of the Kisumu Woman Representative will also sponsor 40 students at Seme Technical Training Institute, 30 at Ahero Vocational Training Center and 42 at Nyakach Vocational Training Center to take similar Technical Courses.

The Office of the Kisumu County Woman Representative move to allocate funds to the 80 youth to study at Nita come barely a few weeks after she launched her five year- strategic Plan in Kisumu.

The six pillars of her Strategic Plan include Food Security, Social Protection, Blue Economy, Infrastructure Development, Enterprise Development and Human and institutional Capacity Development.
