THE office
of the Kisumu County Woman Representative has allocated shs 1.5 million to
sponsor about 80 students to study technical courses at the National Industrial
Training Authority in Kisumu.
Kisumu Woman
Representative Ruth Odinga says this is part of her Strategic Plan of 2023 to 2027
under Human and Institutional Capacity Development.
Addressing
the beneficiaries today during the orientation of the 80 students who are
supposed to join the National Industrial Training Authority situated in Central
Ward in Kisumu County, Odinga said technical courses should never be ignored
since they play an integral part within the society.
Odinga says
through her NyarKamami Scholarship
Program, the 80 youth will be sponsored to take up Technical Courses at the
Nita in Kisumu.
She says the
youth once graduated from the institution after taking such technical courses
are now able to advance their education to the level they would like to be.
“I will walk
hand in hand with the beneficiaries until they reach their preferred level of
education because nothing is impossible when one is well focused and determine
coupled with guidance from the Almighty God,” Odinga says.
The
beneficiaries who have been taken through the orientation for the program are eager
to take up their preferred courses at Nita where courses that include
Information and Communication Technology {ICT}, Food and Beverage, Plumbing,
Masonry, Welding among other are undertaken.
More females
are taking the technical courses than males in Kisumu County.
The office
of the Kisumu Woman Representative will also sponsor 40 students at Seme
Technical Training Institute, 30 at Ahero Vocational Training Center and 42 at
Nyakach Vocational Training Center to take similar Technical Courses.
The Office
of the Kisumu County Woman Representative move to allocate funds to the 80
youth to study at Nita come barely a few weeks after she launched her five

six pillars of her Strategic Plan include Food Security, Social Protection,
Blue Economy, Infrastructure Development, Enterprise Development and Human and
institutional Capacity Development.
