Muhoroni Constituency disburses over 30M
bursary for needy students
The Muhoroni
Constituency in Kisumu County has disbursed over shs 30million to needy
students in both Day and Boarding Secondary schools.
Addressing parents,
Teachers and students at Olik Oliero Secondary school in Miwani ward, Muhoroni
Member of Parliament James Mathews Onyango Ko’yoo said it has disbursed a total
of shs 4,654,000 to the students coming from Miwani ward alone.
The Member of Parliament
says the disbursement will supplement the fees parents pay to their sons and
daughters in various schools.
The Lawmaker has hinted
that the Muhoroni National Government Constituency Development Fund will begin
the construction of three new classrooms in three schools within Miwani ward.
He says the three
schools include Amilo Primary school, Kibos Prisons Primary schools and Miwani
Estate Primary school.
Early this year, the
Muhoroni Constituency sponsored students who were admitted to National schools
across the country.
A total of 61 students
joining national schools across the country were fully sponsored under a
scholarship program initiated by the current Member of Parliament.
The students who are
from poor background now had a reason to smile as they began their four year
journey in secondary school.
Addressing a gathering
when the Muhoroni National Government Constituency Development Fund disbursed a
total of shs 3.5 million to the needy but bright students joining national
schools, Muhoroni Member of Parliament Mathew Onyango K’oyoo urged the
beneficiaries to work hard and get good grades at the end of their four years
in secondary school.
The Member of Parliament
challenged parents whose children have benefitted from the program to ensure
that they make a follow up and track academic progress for their sons and
daughters.
“We are now paying
school fees for these children who comes from humble background and we are
asking parents to make a follow up on the academic progress of their children
during the four years they will be in secondary school,” the MP said.
