Digital Labs as Govt implements its Digital transformation Agenda
A NUMBER of More secondary schools have received the Digital
laboratories which the Kenya Kwanza Government begun establishing across the
various parts of the country.
The Government continues to establish Digital Laboratories
across the country in a latest move that has seen a number of schools and
institutions of higher learning benefitting from the initiative.
Yesterday, the ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary
Eliud Owalo Launched the Digital Laboratories in Murang’a County.
Today, three school in Nyanza region have been the latest
beneficiaries for the digital laboratories and include Ng’iya Girls National School,
St Mary’s Lwak Girls High school and Asumbi Girls National school that have
received 50 computers each during the launch of
Addressing the students, Teachers and other stakeholders at
Ng’iya National school, St Mary’s Lwak Girls High school and Asumbi Girls High
school today during the official launch of the Digital Laboratories known as
Jitume Labs, ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo said the
Kenya Kwanza Government plans to have 1,450 such labs across the country as
part of its Digital Transformation Agenda.
Owalo says the exercise will continue to go on across the
country, adding that this will enable many Kenyan students access digital skills
hence will be able to get online jobs.
“We are very serious as a government of Kenya Kwanza to
fully implement the Digital Transformation Agenda in the country under
President Dr. William Ruto,” Owalo says.
The Digital Laboratories launched earlier in Nyanza region
include those at Mawego Technical Training Institute, Rongo University and at
Sang’alo Technical training institute.
During today’s Function Cabinet Secretary for ICT and
Digital Economy Eliud Owalo was accompanied by his Labour and Social Protection
counterpart Florence Bore, Siaya Deputy Governor Dr William Oduol, Former
Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero, Former Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro,
Chairperson Postal Cooperation of Kenya Rose Nyamunga, Gem Member of Parliament
Elisha Odhiambo and his Suba South Counterpart Caroli Omondi among other dignitaries.
