30 Self-help groups in Seme benefit from shs 2M kitty from Ksm Woman Rep’s office

A total of 30 Self-Help Groups within Seme Sub-County have today benefited from funding by the office of the Kisumu Woman Representative’s office.

The funding is aimed at boosting the income generating activities that the 30 Self-Help Groups are undertaking within Seme Sub-County in Kisumu County.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the official handing over of the Cheques to the groups, the Manager in the office of Kisumu Woman Representative Sam Olweru said through a program dubbed as Nyar Kamami Economic Empowerment they have distributed the funds to Women Groups, Youth Groups and Groups run by People with Disabilities.

Olweru says the disbursement of the funds is fully in line with the Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga’s Economic Empowerment in her strategic plan that was recently launched.

He says the disbursement of the funds for economic empowerment to the groups will continue in other Sub-Counties, adding that on Friday this week, the office of the Kisumu Woman Representative will visit Nyakach Sub-County then Kisumu West on Monday next week.

He says the groups are receiving Trainings on Financial literacy before the disbursement of the funds to be used in income generating activities.

He has urged the groups to use the funds prudently and uplift themselves economically by doing serious income generating activities.

This program come barely a few days after the office of the Kisumu County Woman Representative disbursed a total of shs 8.8million bursary to the National Industrial Training Authority a and Technical and Vocational Training Centers within Kisumu County where a total of 420 students have benefited.
