Kisumu Bouncers gives
police 7 days to arrest killers of six youth from Nyando
Members of the Kisumu Bouncers Association has given the
National Police Service headed by Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai seven
days to arrest the killers of the six bouncers from Nyando Constituency in
Kisumu County.
Led by their Coordinator Edgar Ochieng’ Odoyo, the
Association now want the police to speed up investigations into the killing of
the six Youth who were brutally murdered last Week on Friday after they were
hired to offer private security in a funeral in Busia County.
Odoyo says the Association is perturbed by the recent
happening where members of the Public and Boda Boda operators killed the six
youth in Masibule Village within Busia County.
He says should police fail to arrest the perpetrators of the
heinous act then the Association will carry out a citizen’s arrest to the
suspected perpetrators in accordance to the Kenya Constitution of the year
2010.
“We are asking the police to ensure that thorough
investigations into the matter and immediately arrest the suspects who killed
the six members of our Kisumu Bouncers Association within a period of seven
days,” Odoyo says.
The Association wonders whether there was a prior
information that there would be tension during the funeral of businessman whom
the six youth went to provide private security.
“As an Association, we don’t know whether in Busia County
people are being frisked when they attend funeral and those whose bodies are
heavily built become strangers. This is quite absurd,” he adds.
He says most bouncers who provide private security are also
learned people hence needs to be respected, adding that the families of those
who have been brutally murdered should get justice at all cost.
Market/Mlimani Ward Member of County Assembly Seth Ochieng
Kanga together with his Migosi Ward Counterpart Victor Rodgers have joined the Association
in condemning the killing of the six.
Kanga who has admitted being a bouncer in the past says
whatever has happened to the six bouncers is uncalled for hence thorough
investigations must be conducted and suspects brought to book to face full force
of the law.
“I want to reiterate that I am a clear testimony of being a
bouncer and today I stand here after being elected a leader. This is why we
must condemn the killing of the six Bouncers from Nyando that was done in Busia
County,” Kanga says.
The Kisumu Bouncers Association’s sentiment comes barely a
few days after the Kenya National Bouncers Association issued a press statement
in regard to the incident while condemning it.
The Association has asked the Police to speed up
investigations into the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Last Friday, Irate members of the Public and Boda Boda Operators
lynched six youths from Nyando Constituency who went to provide private
security to a funeral of a businessman who was abducted and killed two weeks
ago.
A woman identified as Mercy Awuor, the second wife of the
slain businessman reportedly hired the six youth who accompanied her to the
funeral to provide security after it was alleged that there were going to be
tension following the circumstance under which the businessman died.
The villagers mistakenly killed the six after they accused
them of participating in the killing of the said businessman.
The six slain youth have so far been identified as William
Omondi Alias Sisqo, Philip Kwacha Alias Kwacha, Evans Onyango Ochieng, Richard
Odero, David Okeyo and Elvis Odoyo.
The National Police Service has since launch probe into the
killing which has sent a shocking wave to the residents of Nyando constituency
and the country as a whole.
The National Police Service Director of Communication
Services Charles Owino has warned that the suspects who took part in the attack
would be pursued, arrested and charged with the murder.
