Govt set to build 16,000 classes for Grade 9 across the country 

 

The Kenya Kwanza Government is set to build 16,000 new class rooms in readiness for Grade nine Learning come next year January.

 

Deputy Chief of Staff, Performance and Delivery service Eliud Owalo says this will enable the ushering of Grade Nine Learner in the various comprehensive schools across the country to be very easily.

 

He says the Government is out to ensure that the Transition from Grade eight to Nine is successful come next year when schools reopen for the first term.

 

Addressing residents of Asembo Bay at Kametho Primary school where Safaricom Mpesa Foundation has rebuild the school at a cost of 35M,Owalo said there is need to put up about 50,000 class rooms across the Country for good implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

 

He says the 16,000 classes that will be constructed will be spread across the country while targeting all the 47 counties.

 

Owalo further says the 46,000 currently working as interns will be fully absorbed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to help in the increase of the number of Teaching staff across the country.

 

The Deputy Chief of Staff adds that the Government has advised to recruit 20,000 teachers through the Teachers Service Commission.

 

Owalo has urged people at the Grass root level to take issues of education seriously and engage in the meaningful development within the schools in their areas.....
