Kenyans Eulogize fallen Soccer Legend

 

Kenyans from all walks of life today thronged Kisumu City to pay their great tribute to soccer Legend Austine Oduor.

 

During the Requiem Mass at St Teresa's Cathedral Kibuye Catholic  presided over by Rev Father Caroli Achok, Government officials, Soccer Legends and fans gave their moving tribute to the departed soul describing him as a true Patriot who made a name through the Football.

 

Deputy Chief of Staff, Performance and Service Delivery Eliud Owalo led the team in eulogizing Austine Oduor.

 

Owalo says one of the lessons they have learnt during the funeral of the late Austine Oduor is that it is good to be good to the people around.

 

Embakasi South Member of Parliament Julius Mawathe who grew up with the late Oduor at Ziwani Estate in Nairobi described him as a man of the people who was very mindful of others.

 

"Austine actually protected us from Bullies and even gave a chance to the younger generation to showcase their talents in football," Mawathe says.

He adds that Oduor's demise is a big Loss to the family, Kenya and the football fraternity and he will be dearly missed by many people.

 

Bob Ogolla, Former Soccer Legend says Oduor was a good footballer and helped in bringing a continental trophy in the country.

 

He says the fallen footballer used to have the interest of other football player at heart before his personal interest.

 

Several Soccer Legends namely JJ Masiga, Peter Dawo, Goro Oronge, Bob Ogolla,Mike Amwai,  Mike Weke, Dan Shikanda, George Onyango Fundi among other attended the Requiem Mass alongside several Soccer fans.

 

The Gor Mahia Football Club Mandela Cup Winning Captain died a few weeks ago.

 

He will be buried on Saturday November 9 at his home within Mumias in Kakamega County.
