Ruto, Raila told to give sufuria movement youth jobs

President William Ruto and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have been told to give jobs to the youth who participated in the anti-Government protests known as Sufuria Movement last year.

Former President of the East African Law Society James Mwamu says the Youths who participated in the Sufuria Movement agitated for changes like lowering the cost of living  among other issues hence should never be forgotten once the ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and President Ruto have signed a deal to work together.

He says the Government must be told that there is need to create employment for Kenyans, adding that it was one of the election pledges during the campaigns ahead of 2022 polls.

Addressing the press at his Kisumu Office, Mwamu said it is quite unfortunate that some of the youths who were arrested during such protests are still having cases pending before courts in various parts of the country Kisumu County included.

Mwamu says such cases should now be dropped since both Raila and Ruto are now working together for the betterment of this country.

“Raila Odinga should ensure that all the cases against the youth who participated in the Sufuria Movement Protests across the country are terminated by the Kenya Kwanza Government headed by President Dr. William Ruto,” Mwamu says.

Mwamu says this will really show a good will that the Government of the day is ready to cooperate with the people of Kenya.

Mwamu at the same time has reminded President Ruto and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that the Economy of this country is still not doing well and it is an issue that must be addressed alongside lowering the cost of living for Kenyans.

He says the issue of corruption should also be dealt with; adding the issue of pilferage and theft of Public funds is still high.

The Former East African Law Society President has urged the Government to address the challenges facing the education Sector in the country especially the issue of Grade ten where those who are currently at Grade nine will join come next  year in January.
