In a move to collect views from the public across the country from the 47 counties ,Okiya Omtatah's presidential explorer committee has led a delegation in Kisumu county where they met people to discuss pertinent issues.
Kisumu county joins the 18 counties where the team has visited so far with a view to hear from Members of the public on what’s affecting them and how it can be changed.
They say this is in order with the declaration by the Busia senator Okiya Omtatah to vie for presidential seat come 2027 general elections.
Addressing the media in kisumu , Mary
Kathomi Riungu ,the chairlady of the Okiya Omutatah's presidential explorer
committee noted that the Senator’sd presidential bid is a move that is marked
by the issues that are affecting Kenyans directly.
She says as a team ,they are
collecting views from the members of the public which will help them to analyse
on areas Kenyans are feeling are not right with the current regime.
"We are listening from the
people, we are collecting views from the people as far as issues affecting them
as those are the same issues we are going to use to formulate our policies and
to develop our strategies and for our manifesto ," she says .
She adds that so far they have done
18 counties but the problems Kenyans are facing are almost the same
because they hear same cases from one county to the other as they use that to
digest them and use them appropriately to spearhead Senator Okiya Omtatah's
presidential bid come 2027 .
Riungu counted a number of similar
cases that Kenyans are speaking about that affects them includes the implementation
of Social Health Authority ( SHA) that they say has totally failed, adding that
education funding model is not working as Kenyans are crying of high cost of
living with high taxes .
"Kenyans are also tired of the
politics of hand outs where they are being given some small tokens and after
elections they are being dumped to suffer for the next five years," She
notes.
According to John Odenyo ,a resident
of Kisumu,they have welcomed the Busia Senator’s presidential bid as Kisumu
remains the epicentre of Luo Nyanza politics .
Odeny notes that the voters of the
Kenya today are tired of handouts politics where leaders buys their votes and
disappears is long gone .
"The politics of handouts and
handshake only benefits a particular click as client partinent politics has to
come to an end and Okiya Omtatah is the solution that Kenyans have been long
waiting for ," he says .
Moses Awili says Omtatah has the solution Kenyans have been
waiting for as the Senator has been fighting for the rights of the people as a
true Patriot of the nation to make sure Kenyans have a true Justice through
the 2010 constitution.
According to Jude Ogula in charge of
analytics in Okiya Omtatah's committee further noted that issues of
unemployment came out clearly as the most challenging issues to youths within
the region as the youths are sorting for a leader who will listen to them.
Jude gave an assurance that Okiya
Omtatah will fight the battle to the ballot of 2027 general elections with a
view to change the narrative and the poor living standards of the Kenyans.
