Clergy Supports President Kenyatta on Lifestyle Audit of Civil Servants.

PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent sentiment on lifestyle audit for all civil servants has gotten a major boost after a clergy from Nyanza region has supported the move.

Arch Bishop Dr. Winnie Owiti of the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church International says the President has done the right thing and it is a bold step towards fighting corruption in the country.

Speaking in Kisumu today after arriving from United States of America where she has been for seven weeks on a gospel preaching mission, the clergy has said she is really saddened by level of corruption in the country and lauds the President’s bold move to fight against corruption by ordering lifestyle audit for all civil servants.

Arch Bishop Owiti says corruption is really killing the smallholder businesses across the country hence the need to tame it.

“I am really in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta on the fight against corruption in the country by agreeing for a lifestyle audit be carried about him as the civil servant number one in the country and extend it to other civil servants. This is a very bold move and I support it as a clergy,” the Arch Bishop says.

The clergy says the Head of State should target all the sectors in the national government in his move to fight corruption in the country.

“As a clergy, I think the President is even willing to forgive those who are ready to surrender whatever they have acquired through corruption hence they should also be ready to surrender such wealth,” Dr. Owiti adds.

Arch Bishop Owiti says the fight against corruption in the country is not targeting any individual or a particular community at all.

“The fight against corruption in the country spearheaded by the President in my opinion is not targeting any individual or a particular community at all hence should not be seen as one sided,” the clergy further said.

On the issue of the importation of sugar with mercury, the clergy says such like a thing should not happen at all, adding that such a move will lead to total collapse of sugar factories especially in the large Western Kenya region.

“People in Western Kenya Region have suffered a lot since they grow sugar cane but some powerful forces end up importing cheap sugar which is equally said to be having mercury and it is not good at all hence such like things should be discouraged,” the Clergy adds.
