on budget kicks off in Kisumu as Kondele ward gets 32M.
THE Process of public participation on the financial year
2018-2019 Budget for Kisumu County has kicked off at the various ward levels for
the public to give their views on the budget estimates.
The process kicked off in a number of wards within the
County including those wards within Kisumu City.
Kisumu County has 35 wards represented by 35 elected Members
of the County Assembly of Kisumu.
One of the wards that has benefitted from the budget
estimates is Kondele ward which has been allocated shs 32 million for
development within the ward for the next financial year 2018/2019.
Speaking during the public participation process at Kosawo
Hall within Manyatta in Kondele ward, area MCA Joachim Oketch Omieno aka Swagga
said they are happy with the allocation of 32 million given to the ward in the
next fiscal year as compared to sh. 4 million that was allocated for it during this
financial year ending this June 30.
Oketch says as Kondele Ward, the money allocated to it will
entirely go for the projects they are allocated for in the next financial year.
He says completion of Kosawo Hospital within the Ward where
about 5 million has been allocated for its completion.
“I want to thank the people of Kondele ward for turning so
as to take part in the public participation process as enshrined in the
constitution,” he says.
Ongoro Wickliffe, a resident of Kondele ward says he
supports the budget estimates and has given their views about it.
He says the youth will be able to benefit from the various
projects which will be implemented within the ward since creation of employment
is visible.
The process of public participation also kicked off smoothly
within Kaloleni/Shauri moyo ward headed by Prisca Misachi where more than 200
residents attended the process.
The ward has been allocated 30,632,317in the next financial
year of 2018/2019.
Area MCA Prisca Misachi says there are a number of projects
which have been identified for development.
She says among the projects are public toilets which is to be constructed,
uniform for sports for the youth, seats for children in ECDs, Boda Boda shades
and one car wash machines for some youth group among other projects.
